Football or soccer is a fantastic sport because there is always fresh talent around. The game stays fresh and exciting because the talent keeps renewing and reinventing what is possible. If you are interested in finding out the future Messis and Ronaldos, these eight players should be on your radar. They will be the top emerging football players of 2017.
Lewis Baker – Chelsea (on loan)
Chelsea might be heading to another Premier League title but fans don’t need to worry about the future either. The team has great talent in the ranks with Lewis Baker. Baker is currently honing his talent on a loan deal. He’s been marvellous at Vitesse, creating chances for strikers and keeping players at bay. It wouldn’t be any wonder for Baker to be part of Antonio Conte’s plans next season.
Andre Dozzell – Ipswich Town
Dozzell is following the footstep of his father who is still the youngest-ever goal scorer in England’s top flight league. The son has not fallen far from the tree and the young Dozzell could indeed end up going much further. According to the scouts, the young player has an old-fashioned eye for creating the game and he has already been a big player in England’s U-17 team. It wouldn’t be a surprise if the summer trading window will see him move to another English club playing in the highest league – although sometimes talent is best cultivated in a smaller team.
Marcus Rashford – Manchester United
The Manchester United player is the most established of these youngsters on the list. However, Rashford deserves a mention due to his talent and the fact that he is still just a 19-year old player. He’s featured in the first team and after a dry spell seems to be back to scoring goals. Undoubtedly, there is much more to come from the young player – not just in Manchester United, but also England’s national team.
Gabriel Jesus – Manchester City
Gabriel Jesus is a 19-year old talent from Brazil – the mother of all football nations. He hasn’t been eligible to play for Manchester City until now and he has already made some waves in the team. Unfortunately, he is currently suffering from a broken metatarsal. He has plenty of talent, but also character – he doesn’t seem to give up and he is prepared to work hard for his dreams. The man hasn’t yet lived up to all the hype due to the injury, but he might be a huge deal as the new season starts in the autumn.
Moise Kean – Juventus
Juventus is a big Italian club and they wouldn’t start playing a teenager unless they thought there is ton of potential there. This is what they have done with the 16-year old Moise Kean. The centre-forward has already been getting a lot of playtime and he has impressed plenty of critics around the world. He already made waves in the youth team, nearly scoring in all of his 25 games.
Malang Sarr – Nice
Youth often features on team rosters when it comes to midfield and forward positions. But there are a few rare examples of great young defenders and Nice’s Malang Sarr is among the best of the best. The 17-year old has been performing consistently and defending in ways only the old, more experienced players are able to do. His tactical abilities are second to none. It isn’t any wonder then that teams like Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in bringing the talent to the Premier League.
Alexander Isak – Borussia Dortmund
The young lad made his senior debut at the tender age of 16. The young footballer is currently playing for German team Borussia Dortmund, having been sold there in January from AIK. Borussia Dortmund beat off competition to get the young lad to their team – Real Madrid was eager to sign Isak, but didn’t manage to beat the German team. The strength comes from Isak’s ability to score goals of all types and he is strategically good already. He has such accolades as being Sweden’s youngest ever goal scorer.
Breel Embolo – Schalke
You might not have heard much about Embolo, but there is plenty to come. He has been suffering from a bad injury in recent months, which has hindered his career path slightly. However, the Swiss national team player is a great talent and there is more to come from him, given the right chance. The only worry is how well his recovery will happen and whether he gets a good chance on his new team after the injury.
