The word is that Tom Brady is still looking to close the deal with the New England Patriots. He could earn 6 million this year.

Will Brady’s contract make him the highest paid player in the league? Only Peyton Manning and the Colts know for sure.

Roger Federer advances in US Open

Roger Federer had an easy time of advancing to the third round of the 2010 U.S. Open, beating Andreas Beck 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 in 95 degree heat at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The match lasted 1 hour and 41 minutes contrast to Kei Nishikori’s victory which lasted just under 5 hours.

Federer is competing for his seventh straight U.S. Open final.

Chris Chelios to retire from NHL

Chris Chelios, 48, has 26 NHL seasons and 3 Stanley Cups under his belt.  He, like Gordie Howe, has come to realize that at some point, you need to hang up the skates.

It’s no wonder how difficult retirement is when you had a career such as Chelios.

He will move on to be an adviser with the Red Wings working with coaching staffs in helping to develop young players.

Manny goes 1 for 3 but his impact is felt by ChiSox

Manny Ramirez was placed in the Chicago White Sox lineup following clean-up hitter, Paul Konerko and has already made an impact by his presence.

Konerko now expects to see a lot more hittable pitches and responded with a 3 run shot to help the White Sox come back and complete a 3-game sweep of the Indians.

Should Vince Young be awarded Heisman Trophy?

After questions about Reggie Bush’s eligibility for the Heisman Trophy have been introduced, it seems Vince Young is sitting in the driver’s seat as the next-up candidate for the 2005 award.

Young fell short of the count by 933 points from voters.

Should he receive it?….first, it needs to be revoked from Bush!

Can Manny boost ChiSox to playoffs?

Manny Ramirez at age 38, returns to the AL after spending the last three seasons in LA.  With the Dodgers this season, he batted .311, hit eight homers and drove in 40 runs in 66 games.  He was on the disabled list from July 20 to Aug. 20 with a right calf strain, missing 33 games.

Can he be the spark for the White Sox?

Should the Mets void Francisco Rodriguez’s contract?  He is earning 11.5 million this year and next and he injures himself outside of Baseball!

I don’t know about you but if I were making that kind of money, I would make sure my hands were touching something soft!

Word is that Tiger Woods has been working with coach Sean Foley at the Whistling Straits driving range.

Could this mean that Foley may become Tiger’s next swing coach? Tiger has been alone since Hank Haney resigned in May.
